The Oldest Restaurant in Kuwait

This restaurant, مطعم الرعيل الأول or “The First Generation,” may be the oldest restaurant in Kuwait that has remained in one place. Located within Mubarakiya Market, it was reported in a newspaper article from the early 1980s to be 50 years old. I believe that the newspaper article used to be displayed in the restaurant. When I visited I didn’t see it, but someone had posted it on the location on google maps, so I’ve reposted it here. It is also visible in this video. The newspaper article reported that many notable figures of Kuwait used to eat breakfast at the First Generation, especially Sheikh Salem Al Sabah. A very modest and simple restaurant, it serves only heart and liver (paired with bread and laban), which are delicious!
