While living in Kuwait, urban exploring was one of my favorite things to do. Daytrips to Failaka Island typically center on visiting the archaeological remains, but there are also abandoned homes, schools, businesses, mosques, and more. Here are just a few.
The Primary School: located directly across the street from Wanasa Beach

Driving north from Wanasa Beach, you can see the ruins of the old high school. When Danish archaeologists first came to Failaka Island to excavate in 1958, they stayed at this school.

Imam Shafi’i Mosque, near the old Al Watani Bank

The old bank, perhaps the most popular abandoned site to visit on the island

The Abdullah Khalifa Al-Sabah Mosque and old administrative complex (on this post you can see a “then and now” using an old publication seen on ebay). The aerial photo was found on this website.
