Between 2014 and 2017 I lived in the village of Isniq, Kosovo as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I have very fond memories of my time there; I lived with a wonderful host family and taught at the local school alongside three great counterparts. Kosovo is a relatively small country, so I was able to travel to other towns and cities during my three years of service. Here are some of the sites I saw:
Dečani Monastery: built in the 14th century, it features one of the only images in the world of Jesus Christ holding a sword

Prishtina: the capital of Kosovo, you can see the modern Bill Clinton and Newborn monuments, the notable library, and Ottoman sites such as the Imperial Mosque built in 1461 and a clock tower.

Ulpiana: the ruins of an ancient Roman city, located near to Prishtina

Gazimestan and the Tomb of Murad I: the tower stands near the site of the Battle of Kosovo, which took place in 1389 and marked the beginning of the Ottoman period in the region. Sultan Murad I was killed during the battle and his turbe (tomb) can be visited.

Peja: the nearest city to Isniq and home to Olympic gold medalist Majlinda Kelmendi. You can visit the Patriarchate of Peć, one of the medieval monasteries in Kosovo.

Prizren: the best known city in Kosovo as far as tourism goes, there are many historic sites you can visit including the Complex of the League of Prizren, “Broken Mosque,” Sinan Pasha Mosque
